Born New Orleans, Louise LeBourgeois is eternally drawn to the ocean and the infinite horizon line it creates with the sky. Her soothing waves and her somber color palette create somber mood in her oils. After painting and teaching in Chicago most of her adult life she is happy to be showing her work in the South where her original roots are. So is Two Moon Gallery.
Artist Statement: After all these years of representing the horizon line in paint, I see it as a playful paradox inherent to life on this big round planet of ours, and something that we all long for. The visible yet non-existent line that describes a curve is also the fictive space where as far as we can see reveals that there is yet more to come.
